Tour de Klodzko Valley

Tour de Klodzko Valley

This 4-day hiking route around the Kłodzko Valley in Lower Silesia is a quiet and rewarding trail through forest ridgelines, peaceful villages, and scenic peaks in the Sudetes Mountains. Combining natural beauty and cultural landmarks, it’s one of the best multi-day treks in southwest Poland. The hike starts in the spa town of Polanica-Zdrój, following forest trails up to Fort Wilhelma, a 19th-century military fortification tucked in the hills. From there, the trail continues across quiet woodland paths to Schronisko Jagodna, a cozy mountain hut beneath the summit of Jagodna (977 m) in the Bystrzyckie Mountains. Day two follows the Jagodna ridge, offering long stretches of panoramic walking with wide views over the Kłodzko Basin and neighboring ranges. Before descending into Różanka village, the trail passes the forest-hidden ruins of Szczerba Castle, a quiet and atmospheric spot. Różanka makes for a peaceful overnight stop on the valley floor. Day three crosses to the eastern rim of the valley. Starting in Różanka, the route heads south through the town of Międzylesie, then climbs into Śnieżnicki Park Krajobrazowy. The trail gradually gains elevation, crossing two open summits — Spalona and Białek — before reaching Schronisko pod Śnieżnikiem, a rustic mountain hut near the foot of Śnieżnik Peak (1,425 m). If conditions are good and you have time to spare, consider a sunset or sunrise hike to the summit, just under an hour from the hut and offering some of the best views in the Sudetes. The final day descends from the Śnieżnik massif into the scenic village of Międzygórze, known for its Alpine-style wooden buildings and the Wilczka Waterfall (Wodospad Wilczki). From there, the trail climbs gently to the serene Sanktuarium Maria Śnieżna (Maria Śnieżna Sanctuary), before a long descent through the rural villages of Marianówka and Pławnica, finishing in the historic town of Bystrzyca Kłodzka. This 4-day hike offers a well-paced balance of ridges, forest paths, local history, and quiet villages, all framed by the panoramic views that define the Kłodzko Valley.

How to Get There

Getting to the start of the hike is simple. From Wrocław Główny, there are direct trains to Polanica-Zdrój, the starting point of the trek. The ride takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, depending on the service, and runs multiple times per day. Tickets can be bought online via Koleje Dolnośląskie or at the station. The train station in Polanica is centrally located, making it easy to walk straight into town and begin the trail. At the end of the hike, you’ll finish in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, which is also well connected by direct regional trains back to Wrocław. The journey usually takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, with several departures each day. This makes it convenient to plan a same-day return to Wrocław after finishing your hike, without needing a car or shuttle. This loop, starting in Polanica and ending in Bystrzyca, is perfectly suited to point-to-point hiking with train access on both ends — making the whole route both scenic and logistically smooth.
